A town famous for its bazaar, dating back to the late 19th century, Axioupoli owes its name to the Axios River, as it is built on its west bank.

Located very close to Pplykastro, the visitor has to visit the idyllic location "Megalo Rema", which is ideal for trout fishing and a visit to the entertainment centers in the region.

The natural history museum is also remarkable, which features modules of botany, mineralogy, petrology and paleontology.
