Axioupoliis connected during its history with the church of St. Demetrios. The church dates back to the 16th century and is a typical specimen of post-Byzantine ecclesiastical architecture with rich hagiographic decoration. Today in the town operates the new church of St. Demetrios, which is built next to the old one and impresses with its grandeur.
